Module 10 — Testing: Where the Market Votes

Module 10 of the USA Dropshipping Master System. The test IS the research. Decide the kill rules BEFORE launch, in writing — at 11pm after two red days, you will not be objective.

Test setup

  • Budget: $100–150/day for 3–4 days. One campaign, 2–3 broad US ad sets (minimal targeting — the creative IS the targeting), 3–5 creatives covering different angles.
  • Before spend: pixel verified, page loads <3s mobile, honest shipping times displayed, sample ordered, backup supplier confirmed.

Not all tests are the same: three models

Model Price band What decides it The risk
A. Low-ticket impulse $25–40 Fast CTR/ATC signal; hook is everything CPA eats the thin margin — bundle BEFORE testing
B. Mid-ticket considered $50–90 Landing page proof + AOV; judgment window stretches to 5–6 days Killing at day 3 on a purchase cycle that needs 5
C. Organic-first ($0 tier) Any 3–5 organic TikToks of sample footage; ~50K+ views in a week = earns the paid test Viral views without buy-intent comments = entertainment, not demand
If you cannot afford paid testing yet: the 30-day organic plan
Days 1–5: pick your niche-flexible store theme and run 20 candidates through the kill filter; shortlist 3. Days 5–10: order 3 samples only (~$40–60). Days 10–30: shoot 30+ clips and post 3 TikToks/Reels DAILY across the 3 products with different hooks. Read signals weekly: views = hooks; COMMENTS = demand (“where can I buy?” is real; “lol” is not); saves and profile clicks = intent. A product repeatedly drawing buy-intent comments has EARNED the paid test. Thirty days of this builds the three skills that decide your paid-ads fate — hunting, hook-writing, kill discipline — for the cost of three samples.

The starter ad account structure

  • One campaign per product test (Sales objective). 2–3 ad sets, BROAD US targeting (no interest stacking), $40–50/day each.
  • 3–5 creatives per ad set, named so the log stays readable: PRODUCT-angle-hook-v1.
  • During learning: touch NOTHING for 48 hours. Kill creatives per the rules; never edit a winner — duplicate it.

Kill/scale decision rules (fill in YOUR breakeven numbers)

When Signal Action
Day 1–2 (per creative) CTR < 1% or CPC > ~$1.50 Kill that creative, rotate next hook
Day 1–2 (per creative) CTR ≥1.5% but zero add-to-carts by $50 spend Page/offer problem, NOT product — fix page first
Day 1–2 All creatives dead Kill the product test, log it, next
Day 3–4 ROAS ≥ breakeven AND ATC rate ≥5% (of sessions) WINNER — +20% budget per 48h, never edit a winning ad set (duplicate)
Day 3–4 ROAS 70–90% of breakeven, strong CTR ONE funnel fix (page, offer, price) → ONE retest
Day 3–4 ROAS < 70% of breakeven KILL. Log root cause. No nostalgia
These numbers are starting defaults — your log outranks this page
Benchmarks drift with ad costs, category, and season. After 10 logged tests, YOUR numbers become the benchmark. The habit of recalibrating from your own data is what makes this a system instead of a superstition.

Diagnose the funnel stage, not the vibe

  • Low CTR → creative/hook problem
  • Good CTR, no ATCs → page or offer
  • ATCs but no checkouts → shipping shock; show total price early
  • Checkouts but no purchases → payment friction/trust
CASE FILE — the clean $455 loss
A “sunset projection lamp” passed the filter, tested at $120/day — day 2: best CTR 1.1%, CPC $1.44, two sales. Day 3: ROAS 0.61 — under the 70% line. KILLED at $455 total, same evening, per the written rules. Root cause: creative could not make the wow visible in 3 seconds. Lesson logged, next candidate Monday. THIS outcome is what most of your first ten tests look like — executing it cleanly IS the milestone.
CASE FILE — AlignPro, Part 7: The test and the honest wobble
Launch Monday, $120/day. Day 2: comparison and desk ads die (CTR 0.8%). Gamer POV: CTR 2.4%, CPC $0.88. Day 4: $455 spent, 13 sales, ROAS 1.31 vs breakeven 1.50 — 87% of breakeven with a strong front end. The funnel says the leak is ATC→purchase; session recordings show mobile users stalling at shipping. One fix: free-shipping threshold at $49 (pushes the duo), trust badges, shipping line rewritten. Retest week 2: ROAS 1.74, AOV $51. WINNER — by the width of one honest funnel diagnosis. Note what did NOT happen: no panic kill at day 2, no hope-scaling at day 3.
